A number of projects aiming to develop and characterize novel attosecond pulses, and to elucidate ultrafast electron dynamics in matter (atoms, molecules, and solid-state systems) are currently available in the laboratory. Postdoctoral researchers, PhD and Masters students, and undergraduate students are welcome to join our group.

Ph.D. and Master students

Ph.D. opportunities with GTA or GRA scholarships are available each year, both to domestic and international students. Prospective students should have a bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in physics or a related field and should apply online at the Auburn University Graduate School webpage.

The Physics Department does not require domestic students to submit GRE scores (both general and subject). International students, on the other hand, need to submit GRE General test scores as well as TOEFL (or equivalent) scores as part of their application.

Prospective students may want to mention their interest in joining the group in their Statement of Purpose and Research interests as part of their application package.

Key criteria:

Prospective students do not need any prerequisite knowledge in attosecond science to join our group. Several courses (like the Ultrafast Phenomena course, the Optics Lab courses, or the Attosecond Science course) are offered in our Department for students to learn the fundamentals of the field. Students do need a strong level of motivation and dedication to their research work, though, for them to be successful. It is expected that students complete their Ph.D. in about 5 years or less.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Depending on funding, Postdoc position are offered in our group. Please contact Prof. Laurent for further details and opportunities.
